As Ladies Captain for 2025, I offer a warm welcome to members, guests and visitors to Lurgan Golf Club.
As we begin another year, it’s a privilege and honour to take on this role. It is something that comes with huge responsibility, however it is the kind of responsibility that I am looking forward to and hope to enjoy. Indeed, the advice coming from past captains is to simply enjoy the year and I plan to do just that!
As I begin the year, I want to thank all those members who have offered kind words of encouragement and support. Our Ladies Captain for 2024, Lynne, was a pleasure to work alongside. She gave so much of her time last year and so I hope she will now be able to spend this time enjoying her golf! I thank Lynne for inviting me to be her vice-captain and for the help and guidance she gives.
I am delighted Frances McCorry has agreed to be my Vice-Captain and we look forward to working together alongside Men’s Captain Henry, Vice-Captain Paul and President Sean.
The success of Lurgan Golf club comes from the expertise of the members, including committee members and volunteers, who work tirelessly behind the scene. I would like to thank the Office, The Pro Shop, Zoe and Niamh, the Catering and the Greens teams for their great work and support.
As the golf season starts, I am looking forward to supporting and following the progress of our many teams. I wish the men’s, ladies’ and junior captains a very successful season and hopefully we will be able to bring some silverware back to Lurgan!
Lurgan Golf Club continues to move forward in adopting the GI ‘One-Club’ model both on the course and within management. Last year we saw the development of more mixed events in the clubhouse and competitions on the course. We have another full year of golfing and social events planned and Men’s Captain Henry and I hope you will join us in these.
Together, Henry and I have chosen Cancer Focus as this year’s charity. Their aim is to provide care and support services for cancer patients and their families across Northern Ireland. Cancer Focus relies on voluntary donations. None of us know when we, like many others, may become effected by cancer and will rely on their support and services. I hope you will join us in supporting this very worthy cause.
Finally, I would like to wish you a year of good health, wonderful memories and plenty of time on the course!
Ladies’ Captain
