Academy noticeon Monday 01 September 2014 - 12:12:09
It has been brought to the attention of Council that member/members have taken Academy balls and are using them for practice out on the course. A number have been found in the water hazard at the 15th/16th whilst others have been found outside of the boundaries of the course. Council view this very seriously as these balls have been stolen from the Academy and at the same time cost the club i.e. the members a significant amount of money to be replaced. If anyone is found using Academy balls outside of the designated area they should be reported to the Office whereupon they will be immediately suspended from the club.
On behalf of Council

Gent’s Open Stableford 31 Auguston Sunday 31 August 2014 - 22:16:13
August will hold happy memories for Gareth Murphy as he opened and closed the month with 40pts, although he may want to put the bit in between out of his mind. While the opening 40pts brought no tangible reward, he claimed victory in the Gent’s Open Stableford on the last day of the month. Having opened each 9 with a birdie, an NR at the 12th served as a reminder that you can take nothing in golf for granted and it took all of his considerable ability and powers of concentration to ensure there were no further slips. In the end he claimed victory by virtue of his 14pts over the last 6 holes.

The large contingent of travelling supporters was hoping however for a different outcome after the previous day's disappointment.

It has often been predicted here that Chris Godfrey was going to win something big sooner rather than later and his nett 63, off 23, gave him his first major when he lifted the top prize.
