Gent's Sunday Openon Tuesday 21 April 2015 - 10:04:05
This, hopefully, will have been the last competition played under 'winter conditions' until around Halloween and the handicapping system can now begin to play its part in levelling the field. Certainly those delicate little short shots played over bunkers can become rather longer indelicate thinned efforts which shoot across the green, at least until players accustom themselves to summertime.
It's now Qualifingon Tuesday 21 April 2015 - 10:02:39
As from Tuesday 21st April, lift, clean and place through the green will cease. Preferred lies on closely mown areas will take effect. A plugged ball through the green may be lifted, cleaned and dropped within one club length not nearer the hole.
Ladies Minor Cup Teamon Tuesday 21 April 2015 - 10:01:48
On Monday the Minor Cup ladies finished off the job they had started in Galgorm, in fine style, when they beat Galgorm 4-1 in the home leg of their match. The ladies employed a secret weapon, in the form of Bernadette Laverty, to great effect and Bernadette won her match 8/6 to set the tone for the day. Annette Kilbinger followed shortly winning 5/3 backed up by Eileen McCann and Irene McCusker at which stage Elaine Bell was called in.
Ulster Four Ball Team narrowly beatenon Tuesday 21 April 2015 - 10:00:41
The Ulster Four Ball team almost produced a stunning comeback in the return leg at home on Sunday. Gerard Marner and Brian Mallon set the scene with a brilliant 8 and 6 victory and this was backed with excellent 4 and 2 victories for Eric Allen and Colin Ward and Martin McCooe and Steven Lennon.
Ladies Challenge Cupon Tuesday 21 April 2015 - 09:58:52
The Challenge Cup team travelled to Portstewart Golf Club on Sunday for the return leg of their 1st round match. Having won the first leg 4-1, they were quietly confident that they could complete the job, but also aware that with the challenge of links golf on a breezy day, it was not going to be an easy task.

April Medalon Sunday 19 April 2015 - 11:12:29
Yesterday saw the first stroke competition of the year and this is always an interesting time to look at some of the returns, or even 'no returns'. Out of a field of 210 no fewer than 42, or 20%, failed to register a final score. Division 1 (100 competitors) had 19%, Div 2 (66) had 12%, and Div 3 (44) 14%. It was also interesting to note that while Div 2 had the biggest percentage of NRs, it also provided all of the main nett prize winners.
Wednesday Sweepon Friday 17 April 2015 - 09:36:16
As predicted here not long ago, Conal NcAshea made a speedy return to the prizes when he lifted the Wednesday Sweep with 42pts off 26. A little spell from 10 to 12 produced 2 nett birdies and a nett eagle and transformed a respectable score into a winning one. Timmy Cummins is as likely to appear in the nett prizes as he is in the gross and he took 2nd nett with 40pts off 6. Birdies at 3 and 10 helped him along the way, his second helping him to take the prize on the back 9.
