David stays in the leadon Sunday 23 November 2014 - 20:17:16
David O’Neill has opened up a two point lead at the top of this season’s Winter League Competition with 161 points. Even though he has lost the use of his buggy because of soft underfoot conditions David still manages to put in a good steady performance week after week. Four players are hard on his heals Timmy Cummins, Nevin Lavery, Paul Lavery and Hugh O’Reilly all on 159 points going into the last week. Remember it’s the best five cards that count so anything can still happen. Will there be a twist at the finish? David it’s in your hands going into the last week!
Jimmy Mount one of Lurgan Golf Club Legendson Sunday 23 November 2014 - 19:53:36
It is with deep regret that The Captain and Members of Lurgan Golf Club have learnt of the passing of Jimmy Mount. A member of Lurgan Golf Club for over 50 years Jimmy was one of life’s characters. Up until these last few years he enjoyed a pint or two with his good friends Billy Hobbs, Laurence Mitchell and Billy Dougherty every Sunday up in the lounge where the four of them corrected the rights and wrongs of the world in their unique and endearing way. A true gentleman and legend of Lurgan Golf Club he will be sorely missed. Funeral will be on Wednesday 26 November at 11am from Malcomson’s Funeral Parlour Robert Street Lurgan.
Winter League Week 5on Sunday 23 November 2014 - 13:43:37
The scores over the last few weeks might have left some wondering whether the golfers at Lurgan have suddenly got an awful lot better or the course has got an awful lot easier. I suppose you will have to make your own mind up about that. Today 16 players were +1 or better, 10 were level par or better, and 5 players returned sub-par rounds. I wonder if that has ever happened before.

Ladies Resultson Sunday 23 November 2014 - 13:34:03
The ladies really enjoyed the shortened course this week and the scores reflected the fact that they found it that bit easier. The winner of section one was Olwyn Forrester with 21 pts. Olwyn didn't have a particularly good summer season this year so it's good to see her enjoying her winter golf. A look at Olwyn's card shows that she had a quiet start to her round but played the last 5 holes in one over par to put together her winning score.

39pts have won many competitions throughout the year but yesterday came nowhere close as the average score in the Wednesday Sweep was a whopping 39.3pts. Brian Doley could even afford a double bogey at the 9th and still manage to score 47pts off 16 to win the competition.
Admittance to clubhouseon Wednesday 19 November 2014 - 09:48:37
Members are reminded that they must use their GUI/ILGU card to gain admittance to the clubhouse. Unfortunately too many people are relying on the Pro Shop to let them in. The Pro Shop is under no obligation to buzz people into the clubhouse. Members are also reminded that the doors of the clubhouse must not be left propped open.
Sunday Pro Shop Sweepon Wednesday 19 November 2014 - 08:25:45
The incessant and torrential rain of the previous few days had put the weekend golf in jeopardy but the use of 16 temporary greens enabled about 50 golfers to enjoy their Sunday game, mostly in very pleasant conditions. As early morning was shrouded in fog most of the prizes went to afternoon players.
